Welcome to our school!

It is a privilege to serve as Principal of a school that places children, their wellbeing, and their future at the very heart of everything we do. Education is about far more than academic success alone. It is about helping young people discover who they are, what they value, and how they can make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Throughout my career, much of which has taken place in International schools, I have been guided by a simple phrase, passed on to me by an inspirational Headteacher early in my own journey:

“Do what is right for the children.”

This motto continues to shape every decision I make. It reminds us that schools exist not for paperwork or convenience, but for the young people entrusted to our care. When we place children first, we create environments where they feel safe, valued, challenged and inspired to thrive.

At Smiling International School, our commitment to small class sizes, close relationships, and a nurturing community allows us to support each student academically, socially and emotionally. We celebrate achievement, encourage curiosity (for example through our Wonder Explorers framework), develop resilience and help students grow into confident, compassionate and internationally-minded young people. Our name, Smiling, reflects something important about our philosophy. Learning should be joyful. Children learn best when they feel happy, secure and connected. 

Outside school, I enjoy exploring the beautiful regions of Italy with my wife, our two young children, and our dog, Lulu. Whether discovering an historic city or walking through the countryside, these experiences remind me of the importance of curiosity, connection and lifelong learning: values that we seek to nurture every day within our school community.
